HermesSchriftguss and Wollmer called it Hermes; Berthold called it Block. H. Hoffmann designed the basic weight in 1908 and expanded the series after World War One. FB Hermes recalls the German origin of gritty industrial grotesks that had carried the heavy work of everyday factory printing.
